NEW YORK- Artscope Magazine was pleased to be a sponsor as well as host a table at this year’s The Artist Project NY. The event was a great success taken place on March 17-20 on pier 92 55th street and hosted over 150 artists from around the world. The weekend long event was an opportunity for artists, art dealers, collectors and enthusiasts to meet one another, purchase art from established and up and coming artists and just enjoy the company of like-minded people and kindred spirits. The idea of the project is for purchasers of art to buy them directly from the artist themselves rather than having to go to an art gallery or having a middleman involved. Several or the artists were also open to gallery representation. Ciaran Tully, a New York based artist originally from Dublin had this to say about his first time at APNY, “Two days before the show I schlepped all my work to the Pier and began to hang it on the walls. As I was driving those hanging nails home the latter part of my weird thoughts began to dominate. All alone there, chatting and talking to the other artists and deciding what piece goes where, stepping back to take a look now and then I knew people were going to enjoy looking at this work. On opening day I decided I would talk with everybody who stops to look. So for four days I talked my head off. The upshot of it all is that it was successful beyond my dreams.”
Many different types of art were showcased including digital media, oil & acrylic, photography, sculpture and mixed media to name a few. Features of the weekend included Architectural Digest’s Home Design Show next door at pier 94, art walks and a lounge area for artists and art lovers to enjoy a cocktail or coffee. Artscope was so thrilled to be a part of such a special event and hopes to continue further relationships with organizations and events similar to The Artist Project NY.
