With formal training in traditional landscape painting, and drawn to abstract artwork, Gonier fuses both worlds by suppressing artistic details to produce a more meditative, atmospheric, sensorial work of art. I describe my artistic process as a balance of planning and intuition influenced by my studies as a classical vocalist. I use music as a catalyst for visualization and movement, as I work along the surface of the canvas, layering heavy body acrylics with palette knife. I take care not to impose my thoughts or specific sources of inspiration. I believe that restraint invites viewers to create their own journeys. More of Gonier’s work: caragonier.weebly.com
