fabric collage on canvas

Fabric collage consists of using innate qualities of fabric – the images, colors, textures and patterns – to create an alternative image. Essentially, the technique is painting with fabric. Fabric is cut, layered and glued onto a sub surface such as cotton, canvas or board. I was introduced to this medium by collaborating with Clara Wainwright, the renowned “free quilter,” through her inspiring work as leader of “The Faith Quilts Project” (www.faithquilts.org). This new medium is a natural evolution of my work as a fiber artist. More of Sky’s work may be seen at www.beverlysky.com
