Paint, Cut, Fold, Stitch
Opening reception: Feb. 9, 3-5 p.m. Closing event: Feb. 23, 3-5 p.m. Curated by Diane Novetsky this show explores the ideas and creative process of four abstract artists: Denise Bergman, Yildiz Grodowski, Diane Novetsky
and On Kyeong Seong. All four work with paint on traditional substrates such as paper, cardboard, canvas, and clay, but defy tradition with fresh ideas such as machine-stitched line as a drawing tool and Calder-like mobiles that arc through space. These artists are expressive colorists that have thoughtfully invented ways of reinvigorating modern abstraction.
