In the catalog for the “Danforth Annual Juried Exhibition 2024,” Director and Curator Jessica Roscio celebrates the depth of creativity in the region. She states how grateful she is to all who submitted, and that it is her privilege to host it.
Of the 349 artists and over 1,040 works that were juried, the trio jury selected one work each from 77 artists. Fifty-six of these artists were included for the first time after previous submissions; 24 submitted for the first time. This is a stunning indicator of the high quality of artistry in the region, and the esteemed reputation of the Danforth Juried Exhibit.
In the exhibition catalog, available on the museum’s website for those unable to attend the show, all three jurors note the depth and breadth of works by so many artists in so many mediums. Marie Craig, co-founder and director of Fountain Street Fine Art in Boston, which closed earlier this year, wrote that she looked for excellent works that invited the viewer to make a personal connection. Noelle Fournier, director of the Danforth Art School, looked for works to provide a meaningful experience to the students in the art classes. Keri Straka, Professor of Art at Framingham State University (FSU), wrote after many viewing sessions, she chose works that had resonated with other pieces.
